Removed from 1968 H/O +/-15 years ago. It's been stored inside since then. Very straight with just a couple of small dings and the one rust spot. Someone painted the whole car resale red but obviously didn't remove the trim for repaint. No holes for emblems.
Does anyone know if the grease pen circle on the inside has any significance?

It could have meant do not pierce for emblem?? Just a guess. Neat find nonetheless. I wonder were the rest of the car went.

I have the same mark on the inside of my hurst ,also another in the front like a mo or ow or something

Well 442Mark, an old friend of mine bought it in SW OK, I think Lawton in the mid to late 80's. He restored it and then shortly afterwards sold it in OKC to someone out of state, so maybe someone on here knows of this car.

Oh yea, fender is still for sale or trade towards your 69 alternator.

I'm still learning, so please correct me -- I thought 5 hood hinge bolt holes meant '69 fender.

He was a really good body man and then he went to work for a paint distributor, his name is Ray. Not sure about convertible.

You're correct. That's either a very late 68 fender or more likely a replacement fender. I doubt it's an original 68 H/O fender

Do you know the build week of the Hurst that it came off of? They did use these dual pattern fenders late in the year. If there are no backer nuts under the 69 pattern this could be the case. Look closely at the front marker light opening. Is the cut out for it a little rough? The marker light holes for factory fenders were stamped and replacement fenders didn't have the marker light holes so generally the cut outs look like they were done with a scroll saw on these replacement fenders. I don't know much about H/O's but how was the emblem attached if there aren't holes in the fender? Did they glue them? 68-69 fenders were supplied to Lansing from Fisher in primer and pierced and painted there so all the fender trim and emblem modifications were done at the Lansing plant, not at Fisher. I'm assuming when a car was sent to Demmer it would have been painted Silver and the front fender wouldn't have any emblem piercings except for trim. The emblem piercing would be completed at Demmer. If it is an original fender the circle could mean that the fender was to recieve no emblem piercings (all fenders normally would have had some kind of emblem in that location).

Thanks for the additional information ally, I am adding a couple of photos to help solve this mystery.
This is getting more interesting than CSI cold case to me.
I do not know the production number of the car but I was hoping someone else might know what happened to this car. I will double check the marker light hole but I am pretty sure it is very clean.
The kids are out of school today so I am taking them to the Great State Fair of Oklahoma! Hopefully I've provided enough information for someone to purchase this fender and pay for the fair.

That's a factory type marker hole. The backer nuts are 68 only which probably makes it a late 68 factory fender or possibly a 68 only replacement fender

My hurst is #75 built 3rd week of may ( 05c ),original fenders ,both have those markings,rt fender has extra holes left does not

Yes, it was Ray. I would always talk with him at car shows, as he was a super nice guy. After seeing his '68 Hurst I always wanted him to do my painting, but I have since lost his contact information. I do remember him telling me he sold the Hurst and bought a '95 white convertible Cutlass that was a fully loaded in mint condition. Although the Cutlass was a nice car, I missed seeing Oldsmobile muscle being represented very well by his Hurst at local car shows. If it helps I believe Ray sold the Hurst shortly before the '99 Oldsmobile nationals in Dallas.

Could you possibly have any input regarding the emblem piercings?
I always thought the emblems were glued on or had self adhesive backing like the aftermarkets do.

Not only is it a small world, but as they say "time flies when your having fun", because I thought it was the late 80s instead of 90s.

In any case I miss hearing from Ray as well.
