403 J&S built engine for sale

Engine is a .030 over 403 with a nodular crank, J&S halo girdle and #7 J&S Stage 2 heads. Here are the details on J&S head work http://www.jsmachineoldsmobile.com/STAGEHEADS1.html It has a roller top end valve train, old school Edelbrock valve covers, Edelbrock intake, Quick Fuel Slayer series carb (http://www.quickfueltechnology.com/c...slayer-series/) 7qt moroso oil pan and a host of other top shelf parts. It is currently configured for a manual transmission but I'm sure it wouldn't be too much trouble to swap out to a flex plate.

Jim has run the engine on his stand but he doesn't have a dyno. You can see and hear the engine run here (yes his tach is off by 1000 rpm):

Here are some pictures of the engine as it was being built and the completed engine itself:

The second picture is of the calculated power numbers (380/446).

Jim and I spent a good bit of time going back and forth before executing on a quote and made some adjustments along the way (like switching valve covers and the make/model of distributor). I wanted a 403 setup up to be strong 100,000 mile motor that was an easy driver with enough power for some occasional spirited driving. Engine was not going to be for the track, just around town to the shows. It was to look like a lightly modified 350 from the top. It needed to plugin with very little effort. He's hit every mark, I'm just not going to have a home for the engine in the near future.

Delivery options :

Buyer can pick the engine up at Jim's shop, possibly work with Jim on shipping through Fastenal (see below) or maybe you can work it out with him to meet at either the Olds nationals or the J&S Olds Drags that are being held the end of July. I believe Jim's shop, the Nats and the drags are with in an hour of each other.

Fastenal : Jim may be able to ship via Fastenal (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=779173)

The way it works is he'd deliver it to the closest Fastenal then they would shipt it to the Fastenal closest to the buyer. Buyer probably want to look at getting an engine shipping case from Scribner plastics (http://www.scribnerplastics.com/engcase.htm). The engine is on a stand that can be placed in to the shipping case. Call Scribner and they can tell give details on which of their distributors is closest to Jim so the cost of getting a case to him is less (he's in Topeka IL).

I have over 6200.00 invested and am open to reasonable offers. Please email me off list if you are interested (travis dot gummels at gmail dot com).
