Original Firestone Wide Ovals G70-14 - Sold

***** New price based on date code info. Tires are from 1975

I have a set (2) Original 1969 time-frame Firestone Wide Oval G70-14 tires.
They were on a car that was stored inside under a cover for 40+ years.
One tire still has the sticker on it, although it is a faded and hard to read.

They rolled fine when they were mounted and had air in them but do show flat spots now since they are off the rims. I have been told mounting again and driving on them may fix this since they are not steel belted.
I was thinking they would be better off as a trunk spare tire.

I have seen where this size may have come on Oldsmobile's but cannot confirm. I can send pics and supply date code info via e-mail - I have
plenty.

$175 per tire - - Buyer to pay shipping cost which should be $25 tops from what I've seen
Please make sure to tell me you saw the ad on this site since I've only dropped price here - I'd like to see an Olds guy get them!!!!

** Also have super clean set of staggered 14" American Racing 200S Daisy rims for sale

Yes G70-14 was optional. Are these with raised white letters or white stripe?

There has been some interest on the Wide Ovals I have and I've been told they are from 1975 and also saw a post here where that was backed up. Now that we know that I wanted to make sure everyone was aware - I'm not trying to hide anything.

Mike,
Thanks for the deal on the tires. It was a pleasure meeting you and your family yesterday. I had a real nice time talking cars with you in your garage.

For any member looking for wheels, those American Racing wheels that Mike has posted are beautiful! If that are around much longer, I might be making a trip back to get them.

Thanks,
Tony

What does one use 30+ year old tires for? They certainly are not very road worthy. Outside of a museum piece, what?

Old - Guess that's up to the buyer. Like I had in my post a trunk spare for somebody that wants period correct and not a re-pop......plus save a few bucks over buying new.

I'm going to put one in the trunk of my Camaro and try to run one on the rear of the same car. Car won't be driven much, only to local cruise nights.

There is no way I would consider running tires 10 years old, let alone one that is 30+ years on the street. I can see running them on a museum piece or a trailer queen, but never on the street.

the structure of old tires can be determined by cracking and dry rot....if you have a set of 30 year old tires that have been stored properly and are pliable and hold air...use em

now watch me smash up my car after saying this... but even still I would, for example trust any nos rubber parts 30-40 years old over newer chinese rubber. I wouldnt think twice about putting a master cylinder rebuild kit or wheel cylinder kit made from GM that has been sitting on the shelf for 30 years or nos rubber parts from a saginaw rebuild kit.

The tires are practially new. No cracking and one still have the label on it. My car won't see any highway time, so mainly city streets around this area. If I were ripping and running up and down the highway, I might have concerns too. Thanks to both of you for your opinion. Both have valid points.
