Every 71-72 Cutlass/442 & 71-72 Skylark GS came with an 8.5" 10-bolt rearend.
The late-67-70 Cutlass/442's came with the 12-bolt O-axle.
The Canadian-built 68-69 Cutlass/442's came with the 12-bolt Chevy.
The 64-70 Buick/GS came with the 8.2" BOP 10-bolt.

problem
That is not a 8.2 it is a 8.5. There were no borg warner 8.2 posi unit in the BOP. Only chevy and 8.5. Does this unit have side gears with c-clip retention pocket?
Also the bolts are 7/16" holes for the ring gear only Pontiac 70 71 72 had these size bolts in the 8.2 BUT the units were Auburn NOT Borg as pictured.
I bet my business it is a 8.5 Borg unit also Look at the splines they are cut at the peeks all 8.2 were sharp peeks on the side gear tops peeks. Chevy 8.2 and 8.5 units used the 45 degree cut with the peek cut off the top.
Only way to tell is the stick a 45 degree spline in the side gear and see if it fits.... IF it does it is 8.2 chevy or 8.5 IF the axle does not fit it is truly 8.2 BOP And you found a RARE bird. Jim

Took a picture off the ebay ad and lightened up the picture to see into the side gear spline hole to the other side and it does have c-clip retention pocket so this is a chevy 8.2 posi. Jim

Jim,
The ring gear was still attached and I took it off (scrapped it after I checked the ratio so checking the part number is out). The ring gear bolts were 7/16" left hand thread if that helps ID it any better. I thought stock Chevrolet 8.2" units were Eaton style. I have never seen this style in a stock rear. I know 8.5" were left hand threaded 7/16".
