Passenger side alternator bracket

In digging through my pile of parts, I came across this bracket. I have no use for it, so if someone needs it, make me a reasonable offer. I am located in Mukwonago, WI for shipping purposes.----SOLD

Any 1968-1976 (and possibly later) Olds V8 without A/C. Of course, you still need the other half of the bracket.

Thanks Joe for the info.

Ihengineer, How much did you need for the bracket? Or am I too late?

Unhappy

Dan was first to show interest.

He should be first in line and have first shot at the part.

He was waiting for an answer to a question.

As per forum guidelines, Price should have been listed in the first thread. This is not ebay.

Ron
whatever . . . you are a strange guy for interjecting useless information about my post.

Do you watch sports? IF you do, then you know playing a sport is useless unless you follow the rules. Ever tried playing basketball without rules?

I am stating the obvious. Dan showed first interest. Dan should have first shot at the part.

A price should have been listed. I understand not everything can be priced. But if you have a list of parts or a specific part for sale, then everyone needs to list a price.

I have been around this block many times.

I have been selling on the internet since 1997.

relatively new to the olds forum. Does not mean I don't know what I am talking about and "strange" as you put it.

Brian is a stand up guy and knows this too.

But everyone is welcome to their opinion.

Ratchemaster, if you would read my original post, it says "make me a reasonable offer". I did not post a price because I did not know what it was for or worth to someone. Brian was the first to make an offer. I have been selling stuff for years as well. At swap meets, if more than one person are looking at a part, the first to make an offer gets the part. A question does not automatically reserve a part. If he would have said " If it fits my application, I will give you $XX", then he would have had first chance. This is how I see it and how I operate.

This transaction has nothing to do with me.
I simply offered a perspective of who had responded first and who I believe deserved first shot at the part.

I feel, based on reading his posts, he was offering to purchase it if it would work on his application.

dmberendsen quote

If you would have answered his question, he was ready to make an offer.

Which, btw, he did as soon as he saw what Joe posted in answer to his question.

And this is not a swap meet, a yard sale, or ebay.

Just my $.02.

Gentlemen, thanks for all the attention but it is just a bracket. For the record:
Ihengineer76 - Next time I'll offer a price before I know if it fits.

Joe Padavano - Thanks again for the info, Forums like this would be worth much less without help from guys like you.

Ratchetmaster - Gotta love a guy who takes my side. I appreciate the offer but I only need the lower part and I'd hate to break up a set. One will come along.

Brian - I guess I better get up earlier. Enjoy!

Dan, I am sorry you didn't get the part and I didn't mean that you had to commit to buying before you knew it fit. All I asked for was an offer in the original post, and Brian made the first cash offer. I don't want any hard feelings over a bracket, and if I find another I will send you a message right away.

And Ratchetmaster, come on dude. Lighten up a little.

Hey, I am light! A mere 198 lbs. lol

I have no animosity towards anyone here. I am just calling them they I see them.

Re-read my posts as a simple conversation where I am sharing my opinion.

Hey Ratchetmaster,

It's interesting that you seem so concerned about rules on the forum yet you felt it was ok to post to a thread the contents of a private message (PM) that I sent you without my permission. May I suggest you dial it down a notch and live and let live on here.

Hey Bit
you want to go after me??? Start following the rules. Post prices. You are mad because I posted the prices you sent me???

So what . . . I am supposed to keep your "prices" you want for parts private??

Wow . . . !!

Your prices on parts are PRIVATE??? hahahahaha . . . so on your ad for 69 cutlass parts you are now not just a nice guy trying to sell parts . . . you are trying to run a bidding system through private messages. This is not allowed in any shape or form.

Read the quote from J I have in my sig.

Hey Ron, once again . . . useless information.

I am sending you a pm what I really think of your little antic's.

As a moderator of these forums, I shall interject with my opinion of this matter. As with all sets of rules and guidelines, there are snags and loopholes now and again. Nothing is perfect.

That being said.... This situation could have run much smoother with a better choice of words by all. Since the original poster was unaware of a starting point for price, he could have started somewhere (and should have)

The idea of selling an item, is to get money for it, so immediate money offers from someone who knows exactly what it is should count for something.

The idea of 1st, second, 3rd, and 4th people in line for the item guideline is more so an action of being friendly and polite with one another on here.

This is the U.S.A. and people can choose to sell to whomever they like. However, the polite thing to do is form a line.

This does not make Mr. Trick rude, in my opinion. The seller asked for an offer, and his was the first. The first person's questions take time, and as you've heard before, time is money.

Kind of a gray area. I understand Ratchetmaster's concerns, but money and state laws will always trump a forum rule.

The key here is for everyone to be polite and respectful to one another, rather than have me enforce a code of conduct. At least this was a 20 dollar bracket and not a set of D or F heads.

ALSO KEEP IN MIND: Someone else could have PM'd the seller 3 seconds after their ad was posted and already gotten the ball rolling on the sale, way before anyone showed interest on the thread. That is why a lot of people put PM sent on the threads, to show the fact that they were there. Some people do not bother with that however. IT WILL NEVER BE PERFECT. Just keep that in mind and be polite.
Carry on, men.

To dmberendsen (I hope I spelled that correctly)< I might have that bracket. If it makes the set-up complete I'd rather not break up the set, but I may just have it.
I would be willing to bet that Scott (oldspackrat) or Eric (Jensenracing77) will have it and will be priced fairly.
Try PMing one (or both) of those guys and see if they can help. If not, let me know and I will look---I probably can't get to my stuff before this Sunday, so you ought to check with them if you really need it.

Thanks for stepping up Dave. Your suggested solution to the problem is much more positive. See a need, fill a need. Same team here folks.

Every forum has multiple.....please don't join the club. There are plenty of civil folks on here that don't wish to deal with any of this nitpicking.

Return to your corners, or play nice.
