Nice complete power trunk assembly. This will fit in any '70-'72 Cutlass, but the '71-'72 version uses this black button with white letters. This will work in a '70 also, but the button was chrome with black letters. Button is complete & unbroken(hard to find unbroken ones) & works great. Wiring harness is there & all you need is a hot lead to the button. It should already be there if you have the courtesy light option in your car, if not, I can supply the jumper harness as well. Trunk latch has some overspray & light rust on it, but will clean up just fine. The whole assembly worked everytime I put power to it. A nice convenience option for any Cutlass/442. Like to get $150.00 for it plus shipping. SOLD

Hey Scott,

Nice looking parts, Question. How does the map light know to turn on when you open the hood? Is it the same kind of electrical mechanism as when you open the door?

Tony,
I think you mean "How does the HOOD light know to turn on when you open the hood?"
It has a mercury switch in it & when you raise the hood with the lights on, the mercury completes the circuit & the bulb lights up.

That's amazing! Kinda like the turning thermostat that i have in my hallway.

Facinating they'd put that in a car too.

I've found a lot of those mercury switches in '91-'95 B body cars like the Buick Road masters & Chevy Caprice/Impalas. They used a small amount of mercury in those trunk lights also. It is inside a small metal module about the size of a pencil eraser. I've been stocking up on mercury, you never know when you may need it.

John,
Trunk lid is available. I was checking it over pretty well today as a matter of fact. I did not find any bubbling at the bottom seam & the rest of it seems nice as well. I'll have to remove the middle stainless trim at the bottom to confirm everything. Bottom side stainless pieces are already off. This is the one that has the individual OLDSMOBILE letters on it.
Pictures coming soon.
