Hello All,

I bought all of the parts and have a complete 442 syle sport steering wheel set up that I'd like to trade. I believe these are correct for '70 - '72?? It includes the hub, wheel, horn contact, spring/plunger, center cap and hardware. I believe it's everything you need to bolt it on and go.

I was told that the wheel was GM but I don't see a part number on it. I've been unable to find out if any GM wheels were made without a part number? The horn contact, hardware kit and center cap was bought new and has never been used (aftermarket items from the Parts Place). I do believe the hub is original GM as it does have the casting number in it. The wheel is a little bit sticky but I've read that they can be cleaned.

The whole set up looks great but I have changed plans and want a standard steering wheel. I'd prefer to trade if I can find the exact wheel that I want...has to be green, complete, correct for '72 Cutlass Supreme and in nice shape. Otherwise, I'm asking $225/offer plus shipping. Thanks!

I just happened to think....if this wheel is a bit sticky, doesn't that mean it's original GM? The aftermarket wheels wouldn't get sticky, would they?

I've got a couple green wheels that need restored. They're not worth near what this one is worth. But if you wanted to try restoring one I may have a core. What style are you looking for? John

I have a nice green standard steering wheel in my 70 Cutlass S if you are still looking to trade. Cars in the bodyshop and should getting back next week or I could stop by and take a few pictures as the cars been in the shop for almost 2 yrs.

This wheel is actually correct for 70-77. If you measure it, you will find it's 15 1/2 inches. The part number for the wheel is not stamped in the metal. It's part of the rubber molding. Look on the back of the wheel on the rubber by the brushed metal.

re: only GM wheels get sticky. Yet to be proven. I believe repro's also will have the same issues.

What you have is a nice complete setup though. Post any info about whether the grain is gone, and if there are gouges or nicks. That way you're being totally transparent in your sale.

I looked in the rubber where the part number is usually found and there isn't one there. Any idea if all GM wheels had the number? It was advertised as an original but must be a repro?

I never noticed if any grain was left...I'll take a closer look and post some updated photos. By the way, do you know if the stock wheel is also 15.5"?

stock wheel and original are same diameter, what's interesting is to me the repos rim is actually a bit thinner. I need to measure an old one and a repo to make sure but I know my repo feels thinner.
