M/T valve covers on Ebay

Still trying to raise the funds for some new tires..these valve covers have some issues. I bought them off Ebay as they are...should have disputed it back then.

Were these M/T covers popular back in the day? Reason I ask is cause my 72 w30 vert came with a pair... Considering reverting back to OEM style but not sure yet.
