This works just like you think it should. It travels up and down and the mast is in good condition. No bends or anything and all three sections go out.

When fully extended this is about 55 inches. It retracts back to about six inches sticking up.

The body of this, that is the area under the fender and to the bottom of the bracket, is right at 16 inches.

I think this came from a 1967 Olds 98 (of which I have owned several), but really I just found this in the shop and tested it. I don't need it but I do need cash for future projects.

Check out the wiring connections. The one for the antenna wire is not threaded but appears to be a snap on type of affair so you might need an adaptor.

Hopefully someone can put this to a better use than taking up space in my shop.
