Maybe while you're waiting for it to sell, you can send it to WMachine for scanning into the Wild About Cars database.

You've had your two parts books for sale for getting close to two years now.

There's a message in there somewhere!

I think the message is not to buy Oldsmobile parts books to resell.

What you paid for them is now so long ago that it's really not relevant any more. If you really don't want them, your goal is to convert them to whatever cash you can get because any cash is more useful to you than the books themselves.

In the other thread, a guy offered you $50 for the book. That's looking pretty good right now. But that was some time ago. Have you tried contacting him to see if he's still interested?

Another issue is shipping. Those books are, what, a foot thick? It could cost $40 or more to ship one of them, and whoever buys one has to figure that into the final cost. That would turn a $50 book into an $90 book. Is the cost+shipping going to be worth it to the buyer?

Have you tried advertising on your local craigslist? A local buyer wouldn't have the shipping cost to deal with.

Have you tried ebay? You'll get a much wider audience there than on this site.

What's nice is that your comment in your second post in this thread about this making a nice Christmas present is close to being relevant once again!

Could have sent them to Kurt, had them scanned for WildAboutCars, so they could help others, and had them back home to sell several times now.

Good luck with the sale!

Check it out!

https://www.usps.com/ship/media-mail.htm

This might be the way to ship those things if he finds a seller.

Wrong

Let him ask what he wants. I dont understand why his asking price even bothers you and why does it matter how long its been for sale?

Isnt there a rule on this forum about messing with For Sale posts?

You're right! Media mail looks to be about $15 for this.

Hey, buzz off. What the hell do you care? And who says that his asking price "bothers" me or that I'm "messing" with for sale posts? I'm just making conversation. Good God, get a life.

Go back and read your own threads. I made exactly ONE post in the other thread back in January 2012, and the first post I made in this two year-old thread was yesterday. That's hardly being "up your rear" for two years. Other people in the other thread got on your case for various reasons, and maybe you have a beef with them, but none of them were me.

And even if I had made multiple posts, who cares? There's no rules regarding the comments that can be made in For Sale threads as long as they're not abusive. Certainly Mr. "Boldsmobile" had no call to attack me the way he did.

Jaunty, please exit this thread now and take the cussing with you, as in deleting them.
You know that that is against the rules.

It does not matter how long they were for sale or if the asking price was too much.
Criticizing is not needed.
I think the price is in the reasonable range - just need the buyer who wants it and will pay that. He can do what he wants, it will sell when it does.

The end.

What the hell are you talking about? You think the swear words are the worst thing that has happened on here? Hell of a "moderator" you are. I haven't done a thing wrong, and you're blaming me? I'm the one who was attacked. Why do you pick on the victim???

Here's what I wrote. Please point out the criticisms. Show me where these comments justify what "Boldsmobile" said. Show me where these comments justify the OP's "up my rear" comment.

Did I say anything that contradicts any of this? Have I said the seller can't do what he wants?

And even if I HAD said these things, who cares? I'm sure the seller is a big boy who can do what he wants in spite of what others suggest. In the other thread, someone suggested that he send the manuals to be scanned. That got a bit of an argument going. I didn't see you jump in there and scold people. Your enforcement of the so-called "rules" is very subjective.

Making good conversation?

And you call the moderator subjective?

The criticism is that you point out that it has been two years, it had not sold, so there is a message here.
So what was the point? To make the seller feel low about it? That is my view and others saw similar. So I can understand their reactions. You have done that in several of my threads, but I can ignore them.

That was not even the reason I even added to this thread.
Cussing at others for any reason is NOT tolerated here! You are showing your anger, just wanting to stir the pot.

And the below cussing towards a mod is grounds for dismissal. See rule number 1 in the code of conduct.
