cutlass wount start

i have a 1991 oldsmobile cutlass calais
-w- a 2.5 4cly i let my aut use it on a trip and it broke down
what she said is this with in 1 mile of her getting on the highway the temp light came on and the shut off next the engine lite came on and the engine started to stuter so she pulled over shut it off and tryed to restart it. now she said the engine would not start so i had it towed and got it back home buy this time
the engine cooled and would turn over but still wount start. so i took off the breather and tryed to start is the engine would rotate but that was it.
now i saw some smoke from the breather and i looks like theres oil all over the right side of the engine but the oils is good but there is no water in the rateator
any ideas?
