Primer for my 48 Olds
Ok all you paint guys time to help out. I am disassembling my 48 in preperation of finishing the body work. It has some flash rust so I will be media blasting to get rid of it. So when it is nice and clean what primer do I use to protect body parts while I am doing the prep work to keep the rust away and also help find all of those little inperfections that I will be filling and working with unitil I can send it to the paint shop.
Thanks in advance. Pat

I used PPG (40LF). I have had it on over a year now since I took the body down to bare metal. I see no signs of rust. I would think that any good epoxy primer would work.

I used Kirker 2K Enduro-Prime epoxy primer and it's mixing ratio is 1:1 with the catalyst and can be reduced if you want to use it for the sealer.
Mine has been on the car three years and not a sign of anything either, not that any rust should be covered, moisture can't get through it and start rusting the steel like the old lacquer primers I guess. |

the PPG is 2:1 I used DP401lf for the (catalyst). If you like maybe you can try the expoxy primer from TCP Global http://www.tcpglobal.com/restoration...oprime.aspx,it will save you money but the problem I had with it was it was not mixed very well when I received it. I had a hard time getting it stirred up but it did work.
