Viking blue

barely off subject but does anyone know if the Viking blue was the same from 71 to 72. I saw those two years mentioned with the Viking blue. Thanks

Well, considering that the thread you resurrected and hijacked was about HOOD stripes, I'd say this is more than a little off topic. Welcome to your own dedicated thread.

To answer your question, Paint Code 26 Viking Blue carried the same manufacturer code in both years, so the formula and color were the same. In the case of DuPont, the manufacturer code is 5327 for both 1971 and 72.

Sorry. I didn't realize there was a time frame on these. My question was on the prior comments about black stripes not showing up well enough and getting lost. I am pretty sure they were talking about a 71 Viking blue but there was a reply about a 72 with Viking blue and not sure if black would show well enough. I was just making sure they were the same. But thanks for the info. It is appreciated!!

Welcome to the site

Joe is an excellent source of info.

If you have a question you can use the search to find threads that answer it but if they don't, just go to the section or forum related to your issue and click on the new thread button. Give it a title and ask away. That way the focus is on your issue and all replies will be about you. New thread, less confusing. I've asked questions on other peoples threads too in the past and it's called hijacking. Easy mistake to make. We all have.

Here's a test panel I did on a hood (PPG Code 2213) Viking blue Code 26 with black stripes

Black looks fine

A friend of mine just put white stripes on his with the blue and the black shows up just as well. Don't see it getting lost at all.
