Look for a build sheet. I have found two on 70 cars on top of the gas tank. Yes you have to pull the tank to get to it. I have also found them under the rear package tray.

It is my understanding you could get pretty much any GM color for a fee back then

not going to find a build sheet on the gas tank of a LANSING car .....

there were some common "special order" -- -- paints:

"rally red" actual paint code 73
"Aegean aqua" actual paint code 38
"nugget gold" actual paint code 53

as well as 1,000s of other possibilities, best bet is to look under the package tray, behind kick panels or under the sill plates to find some original paint

the "ivory" interior doesn't help to narrow it down

The most common special order colors I have seen for 1970 were Daytona Yellow, Aegean Aqua and Rally Red, and indicated with the double slash on the cowl tag. It's possible that there are others.

I know in 1973, instead of the double slash, they actually stamped "SPECIAL" into the cowl tag for special order paint codes.

Hopefully, you can find some paperwork or a hint of the original color somewhere to help!

Donn, there is always the chance you can find the original color located in places on the car that normally may not get repainted. Check around deep in the trunk, behind the rear seat, under the dash and places in the engine compartment. Definitely a 442. Nice car. More pictures would be nice. Good luck.

To aggregate what was said across several previous posts into one place, your 1970 special order colors were typically Rally Red (orange), Nugget Gold (a butterscotch shade), Sebring Yellow and Agean Aqua.

Daytona Yellow? Am I on the Camaro site? Perhaps you meant Sebring Yellow?
