Probably your best bet would be to take it to a good automotive paint store in your area and have them match it. Other wise Eastwood use to have it and I think they ship overseas .... Tedd

The best match I have found is Dupli-color red engine enamel.I bought it at Canadian Tire a parts supply store through out Canada and I believe Whites in the United States. The number on the label is CDE 1653 RED, this number might be a Cdn Tire number but a store over where you are might be able to cross reference it hope fully.

A close enough paint is more than good enough for me, but close enough would be nice, so I will have a look at Ford Red or Thunderbird Red. That is very usefull info :-)
Oldskeeper.. I did find that info, and that would have been easy this way, but nobody I found here in Denmark stock this Dupli Color DE-1653 and only one supplier can and will import it for me, BUT the problem is that spraycans is considered dangerous, and it will cost 10 times the paint in shipping because of handling. In $ it would be something like $300-320 .......for 4-5 cans....... Its not worth it
Yes.. cross ref the number only made people look wierd at me. Maybe it was to much work compared to the normal process of repairing scratches.
And again... a close enough color will be fine.. if available.

Not all 394 engines were red .
The low compression (8.75 to 1) engines were painted a medium green with a black air cleaner .
High compression (10.25 to 1 ) 2 barrel engines were painted completely red with a black air cleaner.
High compression 4 barrel engines were painted red with silver valve covers and air cleaner.
Starfire engines were painted red with unpolished chrome valve covers and air cleaner .

Yes Ford red is very close. Don't confuse the color with the almost maroon color seen on original assemblies today, it's aged. This was the Ford red used in the early sixties, I think 6cyl, 221 and the last of the 292 engines to 1962. Strange thing but it's still widely stocked even in the big auto parts retailers here.
A good excuse to post this again:
