Paint color Grille

Hi, I have new grilles, and headlight housings. Installed them a few years ago {see my pics}. I need to get some paint on them, and I started looking up what colors everything is supposed to be. But that is why I'm here. I found nothing looking thru my resources, and the internet told me a 1972 Olds Cutlass Supreme is either dull aluminum, or black. Could this be all? I know someone here has the more satisfactory answers.... thanks

Krylon dull aluminum, the black ones were for the Hurst Olds.

I believe its Krylon 1403 Dull Aluminum. It is also the color for the tail lights. I got the number from another thread on this site.

In the process of getting ready to paint my grilles on 72 cutlass. Just wanting to see how yours came out with the Krylon dull aluminum?

Thanks

There was a lot of prep work, as in hand (or finger, actually) sanding the surfaces in the vertical slots. Your eggcrate openings should be fun!

I restored my '72 Supreme grilles a few years ago, and it wasn't too labor intensive prepping them, as they were pretty smooth to begin with. I had a local paint shop match the color and load it into several spray cans. I was restoring tail light lenses at the time and used it on those as well. For the headlight surrounds, I just used a nice flat black. Came out great.

Ken, your 71 grilles look great! What did you use for the black portions and how did you tape them off?
Thanks!

I didn't tape them. I used a small Testors model paint brush and hand painted the insides of the slots with semi gloss black.

I just picked up three cans from O'Reillys a week or so ago. They should be able to order it. It took less then 24 hours to get it.

I got mine from the local Ace Hardware... My only issue was just finding Krylon, seems like Rustoleum is the more popular brand at the large stores.
