![]() Just to let everyone know. I ETSed from the Army at the end of May. Now I am working for a company called Stanley in Lawton, OK. I am doing software and equipment training for the radars I serviced in the Army. I will be doing alot of travelling to and from military bases so if I am out on a weekend I might be able to get in touch with some of you guys that aren't too far from a major military base. I would love to see some of your projects. ![]()

What do I do
I am a electrical estimator/designer of commerical and industrial projects. A gear head since 1960 when my brother gave me a 37 chev coup with a burnt valve. Did and hand grind in the back yard Age 15. Lots and lots of cars later I now have a 57 Olds super 88. 455 engine swap in progress
The forums have been great for ideas. Hope to be able to contribute as I do my swap |

Green Cemetery
I have 35 years real-estate experience and am now "plowing new ground" by developing [It's really a non development development] a "Green Cemetery."
A " Green Cemetery" does not allow burying concrete/steel vaults, metal or exotic wood caskets, toxic embalming fluids or upright markers. Usually the bodies are burried in a simple pine casket or burial schroud. I am putting some land in a land trust to allow the cemetery to remain as it is now and part of the procecedes of lot sales will go to the 501 c 3 to purchase other acreage for parks and green space. I think it's the wave of the future. “Every year in the United States we bury enough embalming fluid to fill eight Olympic-size swimming pools, enough metal to build the Golden Gate Bridge, and so much reinforced php concrete in burial vaults that we could build a two-lane highway from New York to Detroit,” said Joe Sehee executive director of the Green burial Council http://www.greenburialcouncil.org/index.htm What people are connecting to is that their last act can contribute towards a conservation effort. After about 6 months of studyng the concept, I am amazed at what people spend on funerals. This new concept makes os much more sense IMHO I'm be cursious as to what ya'll think

![]() Ideally, we should be buried, not cremated, because crematories use fossil fuels to fire ovens at high temperature. Some opponents to cremation object to emissions of carbon dioxide and toxins such as mercury from dental fillings. I don't have the numbers in front of me at the moment, but you would be amazed at the amount of fuel it requires to cremate a body. However, we will have specific areas at our new "Green Cemetery" for scattering and burial of ashes [in biodegradable containers] for those choosing that option. I beleive somewhere around 60% of ashes unfortunately end up in a closet. What we are trying to do is use your last real-estate purchase as a partial tax deduction that 1] serves as your final resting place in a protected area and 2] purchases other green space.

I am an orthopedic technician/orthopedic surgical technician by trade. I opted to venture into business with my mother, and now we own a "care facility/boarding home". This is our first year in business and it is great. I just purchased my first house (signed final docs this monday). We will open our second "boarding home" beginning of next year. My wife is a LV nurse..

I sell Toyota parts , I have had 2 Olds in the past a 1970 Cutlass 4DR hardtop and a 80 something Cutlass . My parents had a Vista Cruiser WG 65 ? vividly remember the growl of that car getting on the freeway .

New Guy form Central Illinois.
I am an all around tinkerer, I picked that up from my dad. For a living I am an Industrial sales person for Caterpillar Inc.. before that i was a Master tech for Toyota and a cerified Ford and BMW service tech for about 8 years . I have owned serveral "for fun" cars starting in order from 1987: 1969 Olds Cutlass convertible,1973 Cutlass (engine/ trans swapped from 69 cutlass),1979 buick Regal (engine / trans swapped in from 73 Cutlass) 1971 Olds 442 (engine/trans swapped in from Regal) 1937 Ford pickup, 23 Ford Tbucket, 1957 Cushman eagle scooter, 1990 5.0 Mustang (350 rear wheel HP) 1959 Edsel,1949 Buick Super Eight 4dr sedan, currently own 1990 Harley Davidson Electroglide (converted to look like a '62 Pan head including engine)1956 Pontiac (60s surviving drag car) and a 1965 Starfire Conv. 4spd. I occasionally borrow my dad's 1929 Ford model A he bought in '68 restored in '69. The has been in the family longer than I have It spends most of it's time up on Jack stands. Hey guys I'm 42 back in the 80's car from the 60's were all we could afford, It was a chore just to keep them running. I wish I had the cars that I've gone threw back then. 67 Lemans - 1ST CAR bought it for $50.00 dollars. Ran it for awhile in HS and ended up selling it to a friend who was restoring a GTO. He still today has that Goat. worth 10x what I sold it to him for. I've owned a 75 Dodge Charger, A 72 Delta, 74 Mustang, 65 Mustang, which my Dad took back from me cause I ran amuck with it, 76 Chrysler Cordova and yes it had corithatin leather seats,(hope I spelled that right) 2 chevy trucks 85,78,a 78 Plymouth Fury, and an old rusted out Ford van. Had my 1st and only child by 19 and was divorced by 23. Single father until 95 than I met the real true love of my life Nancy. I've been in every aspect of the building supply since I was 18. My little girl (she will always be my little girl) has come into herself and has since left the nest. I felt the time was right to find a classic that Nancy and I could have fun with. Today I own a 72 Corvette Stingray and my pride and joy a 68 Delmont 88. I enjoy old cars, it's great to see them around. Original cars the most. I'm not into hotrods I had enough of them in my youth. My daily driver or should I say rider is a 2001 HD Roadking. My 03 GMC crew cab sits more than it's used due to fuel prices. I remember back in the 70's my dad came unglued the day high test hit .50 a gallon, would hate to be standing with him today while he fills his Caddy. Enough already I'm starting to ramble. I found this site a year ago and have just now started to chime in. It seems to be full of good people. God Bless everyone.

What do you do
I'm 47 years old and have been "into cars" since I was 8 years old and got my first Hot Wheels car. I got into Oldsmobiles when I was in high school. All the fast cars were Oldsmobiles. We had a 1969 4-4-2, a 1971 W-30, and a 1972 Hurst/Olds. Sure we had a few SS Chevelles, a couple of GTO's, and even a 440 Dodge Challenger. But the Olds cars were consistently on the top of the pile. Between my wife and I we have owned:
1972 Delta 88 coupe 1975 Cutlass Supreme 1984 Cutlass Ciera (New) 1987 442 (New) 1990 Toronado Trofeo (New) 1994 Delta 88 (New) Currently we own a 1972 4-4-2 W-30 (over 22 years), a 1999 Aurora (bought new), and we are in the process of restoring a 1972 Delta 88 convert. I look forward everyday to reading the forums. I work as a salesman for a bearing company today but previously worked for ZF and Tenneco in sales and marketing positions. 69 vista cruiser

Hi I am a newer member, a few weeks old now, but owell. I am 18 graduated high school back in 07 in a wheel chair due to a freak injury, I dont let it get in my way though, I work full time at the federal center here in Battle Creek, graveyard shift in there interaction center. I just recently bought a house and even more recently bought my first project a 69 vista cruiser which I love more then the house already and I Just got it. It is my first olds and I dont plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. I am a giant fan of cutlass's thats what i was trying to find for a project but then i saw a add in our local paper for the vista went and looked and fell in love. Well thats about it

car addict by night and weekends
By day worked in a body shop right out of highschool and decided is was going to be a hobby for me as it only lasted 6 months. Went to work for Super Shops busting tires and worked my way up to have managed several different stores until the chain folded. Went to work for a high end Plumbing / Hardware store for a few years and then a Chevrolet salesman until my daughter was born. Went to work as an estimator for a Lexus body shop and am currently with the same company as a pre-owned sales makeready manager. |

You didn't mention your body work experience when we talked down in Texas. I should see someone like you about why the door on my '46 binds on the rear of the front fender. I am leaning toward a mis-alignment in the fender, not the door, but I am a moron when it comes to body work....

Hi Guys/Gals,
Worked for Oldsmobile Division for 22 years! First in Lansing then out in the field as a Field Engineer. Finally a Field Executive-Sales/Service. Retired in 1994 when I saw the handwriting on the wall. My forum name is taken from the New York area Olds dealer network called the Good Olds Guys with whom I worked closely with for years. Did you know that in 1984 every third car you saw on the road in NYC was an OLDS! I have many stories and plan on writing a book in the near future. Currently I am working as a General Manager for a small family dealership with two stores. I like cars and spend alot of time with my '58 Corvette and my '68 Olds 442 which I have owned since 1968. I purchased my car in NYC at Rosenstock Oldsmobile on 11th Ave. in Manhattan. Has 350hp 400 cu.Rocket V-8 Turbo 400 Automatic, 3:42 posi rear (38 spline axles) and power windows,brakes, seat and AM-FM stereo. It currently is a numbers matching car. (engine,trans,rear) I am currently planning to drag race it once again (raced it continually '68-'69) at our local tracks on more of a fun basis. I like seeing so many folks realizing the virtues of an OLDS! They are great cars produced by what was a great company. This forum is a great tool and is helpful for those who have questions and need help. what do i do?
well ive done many jobs as alot of have done...ive been a soldier,ive been a service tech at a gm dealer,ive been a parts counter guy,and i even worked for goodyear for a while but i am in the aircraft and aerospace industry now and its a good thing because when i have "down time" between jobs i can crank out small parts for my car out of scrap and most the time its lighter weight and stronger than the original. my obsession for cars started very early and has grown with deep passion and excitement as i get closer to getting my car done...my neighbors love me...wait till the big block comes
. even though im grown up there is still a pest inside of me who loves to irritate my neighbors with a big lift cam and questionable ehaust systems or the lack of one...anyways thats what i do...i work and piss my neighbors off...life is good

Greetings! I just joined in June or so, and recently purchased my second Oldsmobile. My first was brand new 96 Cutlass Supreme 4 door, but with the Coupe's 5 spoke rims. A sweet ride. I just bought a 72 442 Convertable, Viking Blue with the 455, Hurst dual gate, and a trunk wing. It's in great shape and will be even more so over the next couple years as I finish restoring it.
My first Olds memories were of Mom and Dad's 68 Cutlass Supreme notchback, flame orange with white interior. A really cool car. In order to pay for all this fun and games I fly B-52s for the Air Force. We specialize in, uh, real-estate re-development. |

Been here for just a bit but just ran across this thread. I am retired Navy and currently work as a HVAC technician in a commercial Trane office. Got into Oldsmobiles by accident. Car was sitting in a driveway of a house that was scheduled to be torn down. Wasn't for sale but I stoppd to ask about it and ended up buying it. My midlife crisis I suppose. I told my wife to be glad it wasn't a woman.....the guys I work with told her she'll wish it was a woman cuz it would only last a short time and cost a lot less money.
Anyhow, am glad to find a place like this where we can share information. There's no more valuable information than the voice of experience.

I've been here a short while, and just found this thread too. I am a writer- technical and marketing- and have been working in the high tech sector for 25 years. I'll be doing this until I croak- no pensions for contract workers. I have a 1969 Cutlass convertible that looks very nice from 10 feet away. Has a '68 front end- thought that I'd make it right, but it's kinda growing on me now; we'll see. Need to do a lot of work to it, but that's okay; she's drivable, and that what I do. When I find some time, I'll post some photos, and link to a site with my other vehicles and past ones, too.
