I have a 1985 cutless cierra 2.5l and recently I have developed a couple of problems. Most recently it has developed a problem while driving down the road. I go about 4 or 5 miles and it just stalls out as if it's out of gas. I replaced the fuel pump and filter but it still does same thing. If I pour gas into carb. it starts up again and will drive for a few miles and does it again. This car has what looks like a fuel injector system attached to a carborator if that makes sense.
The other problem I have is the car will not pass smog. It was way over in the last catagory of test. I don't have the paperwork in front of me here at the moment. I know this is pretty vague for info but if anyone ideas, info or related stuff to help I would appreciate it. thanks |

It sounds like your carb is not adjudted right, the fuel air mixture was bad on mine as i am restoring a 55' , also on on the side there was a large plastic screw to set thr richness on it. I heard the engine improving as soon as i adjusted it, another idea is to google carb troubleshooting and see what popsup, this is what i did with mine, good luck,
ps, you made need a carb kit, as there are many variables |

You inclued one Clue * Emissions test! Is your catalic converter pluged up ? This is Quite common on those with 80000+ miles+, When it starts this hold a rag over exhaust check flow .The converter can be gutted out (For test purpose Only) .Then replace for proper sensor operation .
