CARBURETOR IDENTIFICATION

Could we create a sticky on this site for carburetor numbers and their original application? We have a plethra of knowledgeable members on here to help the thread along.

Or do you think there are just TOO MANY?? Even if divided by decade?

Perhaps there is a magic book that someone like rain man has compiled over the years?

Probably not even worth it now that the aftermarket is booming?

I could look into how to "sticky" a post or thread. I don't know if it would be beneficial, as you said, there are probably so many applications. Let's see what the consensus will be.

I have a list of Carbs from 65 to 75.

I could list it for you if you want, it's not like I have anything better to do since I broke my foot.

The list is directly from Mondello

Rats.

None of the above.

The pot reads:17052397

And the base:
7041455

driver's side reads 7045183k4 1475
It's a 170 carb pot so it should be later than 73
and there is no tps so it is pre 81

After 1974??, carbs are model and motor specific, I think,Damn.

I believe the 4th number ..... which in this case is a 5..... to be the year code. 1975. Perhaps I am mistaken.

hmm.... this carb is: 7045183 K4 1475

70 = Rochester products division#
45 = Production year, 4=1970's, 5=specific year, 1975
1= Carb ID --> 1 = 49 state 2bbl?!?!
8= A non GM product division. possibly Mercruiser marine engine??!?!
3= An odd number = a manual transmission

k4= Engine assembly plant?

1475= manufacturing date..... 147th day of 5 =1975

I dunno what the hell I'm going to do with this thing. Waste of 10 bucks??

Why so different?

I was wondering why a 1975 carburetor and a 1974 carburetor are so different?

Here are some pics of the 74.
