Stainless trim pieces - 68? 69?

I have two pieces of stainless trim, one obviously left and the other right, one marked "68" in yellow, that I have no idea what they are used for. These pieces came from my brother's parts. My brother passed away almost 4 years ago now and I'm just getting to sort out what he had. The pieces are pictured below and they look just like the stainless fender and door peak trim pieces on the '68 and '69 A-body cars. But these pieces aren't those. They are finished on one end and open on the other end, the open end appearing to slide into another similar piece, and they measure about 45" in length. If anyone knows what they are, please let me know!

My brother had a '68 holiday coupe and I suspect these pieces might have something to do with a hardtop style model. My '68 and '69 are both convertibles and I know these pieces don't go anywhere on them!

68 had a pot metal piece at the front of the fender, the 69 model year had just the stainless trim. The difference in length should be roughly 5 inches. The parts I have are at the shop so I can't measure them now to get an exact measurement of each.
I had a 69 parts car with one of each. The right side had the pot metal end piece while the passenger side was one piece stainless steel.

I checked that (I have both a '68 and a '69) and these pieces don't fit in either situation. These pieces are both shorter than the '68 2-piece peak fender trim long piece.

I was wondering if these had something to do with the roof line on a holiday or sport coupe. I'm just thinking out loud but that would be the biggest difference in body style between my convertibles and a holiday or sport coupe.

Perhaps drip rail moldings.

It looks like the trim under the drip moulding.

It looks like it could be that trim. Is yours about 45" long? How is it attached to the roof line?

Then I'm not sure it could be that, either. These are definitely 45" long, one end is finished and the other end has something that slides onto the outside of it.

That exactly describes my piece only 5" shorter. I wonder if it's the same pice only for a Chevelle or something. Could the same piece for a 68 be shorter?
