Working on assembling a 49 old's 98 and the door open and close fine using inside handle but the outside handle rotates and hit the body before it disengaged the latch. They don't sag at all when not in use. Any help with be greatly appreciated.

You might try the parts from classic parts.com Door lock Spring and door latch repair clip. I know that replacing the spring would correct the "sagging door handle problems" on 49-50 Chev. And GMC trucks. They are very inexpensive. Another possibility is that the rod from the handle to the latch is not attached on one end. Larry

Thanks for the reply, I was actually able to take the latch mechanism out and was able to add some metal to the pin that actuates now it fully open and the handle stop about a half inch above the body .
