How would a potential owner replace the turbo? Can these turbos be purchased anymore? I suppose one could always install an aftermarket turbo... but for a car that is so rare it would be a shame.

Very cool, thanks for posting! I just called him and left a message. The turbo on your ebay link is just the turbo itself. There is much more to the turbo system to make it work.

Here is a picture of the turbo, carb and fluid metering system complete. From what I can tell in the limited picture views, I believe he is also missing the intake and exhaust manifolds, check and relief valve, Fluid tank, and fluid tank cap that are all super rare parts. Maybe he has some of those parts to go with the car? Looks like a great project. Just curious what the asking price is. Most people think these cars are worth a fortune.

I didn't think that a specific intake / exhaust manifold and carburetor would be needed. I just ASSumed the carburetor would have been a 2GC or 4GC Rochester like the any other from that era.

The carburetor is a Jetfire specific 1bbl side draft. It is the only side draft that Rochester ever made. Most of these cars were converted to a 4 bbl carb by the dealers. GM offered to do it free of charge to the owners because of the problems they had. The turbo bolted direct to the intake manifold and the carburetor bolted direct to the turbo. The only plumbing was on the exhaust side. My wife and I love these cars. We have a ball with them. I have two guys looking for one but they are looking for one that is less of a project. For the right price I would consider picking this one up but like I said above, I bet it is over priced.

The guy that listed it did so for a friend. His friend is supposed to call me back.

It looks like it is good enough that it would be worth the hunt for all the parts and convert it back. I hope it gets saved. Another member on here and I both have all the parts it would need but the car just needs to find the right hands.

The turbo in the link is owned by Ken who is a member here. I went and saw his Jetfire that he is restoring last Thursday. Very neat cars.

From the photos, it looks like the rear roll pan is rusted bad.
