1963 Olds Dynamic 88

Hey guys, I've got a few questions here. I have a 63 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88. I want to install a small block Chevy in it. Was wondering if any one knew of a kit to make life a little easier. The original 394 has spun bearings and I don't want to take the chance of wrecking the original engine as I want to drive the car and keep the 394 on the stand if I decide to sell. Why I ask is because of the steering box location. Don't want to use the front mounts.

Thanx, Dean

Hello, I can't answer your question but I moved your thread to the non-Olds engine forum. I think you'll have a better chance of getting an answer here.

You can possibly try Ross Racing, outside of that there is no kit, you will have to fab your own mounts. Speedway.com has generic engine mounts for hotrods that you can possibly use. You will also need a transmission.

Depending on your skill level and how much you want to invest, that's not an easy undertaking. NOTE-These early big cars are expensive to rebuild, front and rear suspensions ends-especially the ball joints(and hard to find) etc. and they will not exchange with early Impalas. X2 Like Oldcutlass said, you will have to fab some things for this project. I would make sure the front and rear suspension is good before attempting a engine, trans, drive shaft, etc. surgery. Just my 2cents...

IMHO, rebuild the 394.

I agree with Don, do a rebuild on the 394. All of the parts are available for this engine including the new neoprene rear main seal.
