X3, if it has a PCV system confirm that it is the correct PCV valve and that it has vacuum. Was it particularly sludged under the valve cover? Wondering if a baffle or port inside the valve cover to the PCV is plugged.
If not equipped with PCV check for a plugged breather.
Next is defective rings, do a leakdown test preferably, if not a leakdown then a compression test.
