If I was selling or looking for them I would have put them in the right forums.
Put them here with part numbers for someone else that may be looking to do this.

Thanks! Now I understand. It may help someone else that may be looking to add dual exhausts. What did you do about the trans shift rod that is in the way? Original dual exhaust cars had one with an arch in it. You can also modify your existing straight one.

I am getting to that next, and will reply how the pre-made exhaust system I bought on e-bay works out. So far it looks as if the downpipe goes under the straight shift rod. The e-brake cable looks like it will rub the pipe, but I have to lay out the whole system to get it all aligned. The pipe kit is like a puzzle and I have not figured out how it all fits together. None of the pipes are labled which side. I am also working on the right side crossover block off.
Was very surprised to find the s-manifold at Amazon. The flange was a little harder to find. The gasket is common to the 231 Buick V-6.

I did the same thing you are doing on a '68 Delta 88 about 10 years ago using the jeg's brand 2-1/2" kit for A-bodies (Cutlass/Chevelle). It worked out really good. I welded my system together and clamped at the mufflers. I enlarged the exit holes on the S manifold and the stock passenger manifold to received bigger donut gaskets and the accompanying flanges for the 2.5 pipe.

And that's a deal on the S. I paid $200 plus back then for mine.

On my 66 I just installed the S manifold and had a custom dual exhaust installed at an exhaust shop. Why make it complicated?

For me, 1) it wasn't too difficult, 2) was very affordable, 3) mandral bent, and I wanted to see if I could do it.

Finally got back to getting it done.
I agree that if you have a shop close by you that you trust a custom system is better then exhaust in a box. The system I bought was from Classic Exhaust. I would not reccomend them. I had to tweek the pipes to get it done.I also had a dissagreement with them over the length of the tailpipes, and even sent them a pic. They were about a foot short of the rear crossmember. They said the res. delete pipes were shorter. I didn't want to fight them and figure on putting custom ends anyway.
If you get one of these exhaust systems in a box, call and pay the extra ship to get the pipes full length.
Oh, if you use the starter brace bolt it to the block before bolting up the S-manifold.
All told, the cost including manifold and shipping, exh.system, clamps and universal hangers ran about 600$. I don't know how that compares to paying for a custom bend system.

I know no shop that can reproduce the offset tailpipes on these cars so with all the factory hangers the pipes exit where they are supposed to. So how does the engine run now? Do you feel the xtra HP?

My shop did it from manifold back for $480+ tax that includes capping the passenger side manifold. That's all mandrel bent. Looks and works perfectly.

Experienced exhaust shops should be able to replicate anything made by the factory.

Cap't, I would have happily paid that plus the cost of the manifold if I had someone close and the car was on the road. This was mandrel bent 2.25 pipe, at least before I tweeked on it
Oldsmaniac, it ain't on the road but I heard that 425 breathe a sigh of relief, not unlike when you eat a couple of bean buritos and have to excuse yourself from the room.
Terrible to have all those cubes bottled up like that. Sounds good with stock mufflers and no resonator.

All that matters is that you are happy with it and it's one more step closer to cruising you around town!

Well thats what I thought too and this is where Classic Exhaust fell on their face. I sent them an original 66 B body (88 to be exact) resonator with the short offset tailpipe attached. They tried 3 times and gave up to reproduce that tight offset bend. The 98 has the same bend but the assembly is longer due to the longer wheelbase. I still used Classic Exhaust but sometimes they dont get things quite right and yes it was a surprixe when I got my 442 exhaust and the long head pipes were cut in half... wtf.

If you have a column shift, you'll need the half moon shifter rod to route over the drivers tail pipe. Shouldn't be too bad to fab...

Hi
are there any that you can use that go straight down like the drivers side one?
for the passenger one?
i really don't want to cap it.
i have my motor out so i can see what it will hit
my cross over pipe was rusted out as well as the rest of the exhaust
i was thinking about getting that ebay kit but now ill just see if i can find a shop to do it
thanks

Why not? Even if there were a manifold that would work, the flow difference between that one and yours with a cap would not be measurable. If you need a cap, they are reproduced.

If you have the S manifold for the driver's side you can use a 66-70 Toronado passenger side manifold without the port to cap. The outlet position is close to original but not dead on so a muffler shop may need to form this down pipe.

I know the SB manifold cap is repopped but am not aware of a repro cap for the BB manifold which has a larger flange/bolt spacing than the SB ones for the crossover port.

I actually have a jig or fixture I made to facilitate the making of the curved equalizer [shifter linkage] bar. sets the ends and curved part right so you can weld it up.

I ended up using a u-bolt to modify the shift linkage, used a freeze plug inside and outside on the crossover pipe stub for the plug.

They do make caps specifically to cap off the passenger side manifold.

it was an OEM part used by the factory so it would look "correct"!

The factory blockoff plate was stamped steel, not cast. The correct repro looks like this:

Also going the same route on my Delta 88. I am currently bidding on that manifold that m371961 posted

I would surely appreciate a picture of the modified linkage, I had no idea I would have to modify my column shift linkage to fit this manifold till now.

I have a fixture I built in order to make those U equalizers out of a std one or two. Not much demand, so it sits unused. It holds the ends in place and the U while you weld the pieces solid. You have to get some A-body equalizers to donate the parts.

They would only be used on full size Olds factory dual exhaust cars fom 1965 to 1970. They are hard to find and it would be better to have one made. You do not really need this by the way. An exhaust shop can make a pipe to fit that will not require the special linkage.
