They are an option. I have them on my 65. FYI. they require a different turn signal switch with a extra set of contacts.

RPO T87, a $36.86 option in 1966.

My Grey 1967 98 & 1971 Royale 88 both have them. They do help at nightime in turning in unlit areas. Good luck finding aoriginal type bulb for your 1966. They're shaped like a mini flood light but they sell a different style replacement. These options would drive salesmen crazy now. All they want to sell is "cookie cutter" cars.

Do you have the old switch with the extra contacts?

Why don't you think that these original lights, listed as an option for your model, and requiring the use of special front fenders with special punch-outs for the lenses, were not installed at the factory?

If you can find the harness, what's the problem?

The reason I asked about the switch is somewhere on this site I posted pics of how I took mine apart and got it to work again. And somewhere else I posted bulbs I found on E-Bay.
Like said above, unlikely you have the fenders with cutouts, the switch and wiring if lamps are not original.

Yes, most of the time, these can be repaired (occasionally, the plastic is broken enough to make that to difficult, but usually it's not that), and it's obviously worth it if the switch is hard to get.

i say that because my fenders are a lighter color than the car leading me to believe they were swapped out
i also can not find the harness under the dash or running along the fender wells
i still have the switch but one of the tabs that holds it together is broken off
its zip tied together on my tool box, all the contacts and springs are in it

i have not pulled the bulb harness to see if it has bulbs in the bezels

i also found a wiring diagram on how its hooked up so it would not be a problem for me to run the wires but with out the right switch all i can do is turn them in to turn signals
