question: ballpark price for 1951 olds 88 deluxe 4-door

Hello all.

I am considering a 1951 Olds 88 4-door. Looking for ballpark price range. Some details:

Runs/drives/stops good.
Solid body - no major work done ever, no significant rust. $1000 (at best) maaco-esque paintjob.
Original interior- passable, but 60 years old.
Some minor shade tree mechanic stuff needed.
Deluxe (?) Has extra chrome above rear wheels and such.
I consider it "driver" condition.
Post 4-door.

What price range should I offer? I know like about the market for these (other than there is LITTLE market/interest). But it is cool in its own way!!!

Thanks.
JMG

Without some pictures it will be impossible to even get close to a price. I would think somewhere in the $3,000 range and that is just a SWAG.

Welcome aboard, to me 60+ years and not much done to it means it will be ready for most everything very soon so you better plan on it when you buy it.It's nice and a plus to have everything original on a car when you start a restoration( car is complete) rather than having to put something together from other peoples rejected used parts but believe me you will touch most every hidden part on this car before you will start to enjoy it and it's doubtful you will ever recover what you will put into it especially it being a more door. That being said and with no pictures to evaluate do what your heart and your pocket book dictates...$3000 sounds OK for a runner....Lost in the fifties...Tedd
