1970 Cutlass Convertible

Hello, I just began dismantling my '70 Cutlass Convertible for restoration. I have had the car since 1985 it was gonna be my first car but a little accident and she never got repaired. I couldn't bear to part with her, people tried to get me to sell it, but I just love this car. I'll post more details when I'm ready to start a thread in the Major Builds section. Here's my cowl tag. The 28 or I think it should be 26 is the color right? It's more of a medium blue like Viking Blue instead of Twilight Blue. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and say how much I enjoy the forums I've been reading for years.

Code 28 is indeed Twilight Blue. I had a convertible that color, sort of a midnight blue. Very pretty. Too bad the top code is cut off.

The number 28 is the paint code for the lower part of the car. Just to the right of it would be another number for a metal top closed car, or a letter for the color of a vinyl top or a convertible top.

On your data plate the 28 is there, and then there is something that is stamped, but cut off, to the right of it. It's possible your dark blue car had a blue top originally, and that would be depicted in the letter we can't see.

So that's what I meant by saying it's too bad that code had been cut off, probably the plate itself wasn't lined up properly on the machine that did the stamping.

gotcha, the reason I think the 28 is actually a 26 is the cowl area behind the fenders and the door jambs are more medium blue like Viking. I have the build sheet somewhere - just gotta remember where I put it for safe keeping

Oh and it does have a blue top.
