Newbie
Hi folks, I have a 1982 cutlass supreme that originally came with a v6, I swapped to the 307 because the v6 died after 212k miles. I developed a oil leak from the oil pan, I know its the gasket, I was told that it would a hefty labor charge to fix it, so my mechanic a sealer on it called Locktight? Has anyone ever heard of this?

Never heard of fixing a gasket leak with a sealer. Best bet replace the gasket. If you have a garage or even a driveway not to hard of a project to take on yourself

Unless the mechanic was repairing one or more loose bolts by applying loctite to their threads; even then, it would require quite a few (definitely more than one or two) loose ones to allow the pan to leak. Loctite is a branded name of thread sealer products that come in different colors (red, blue) which have different holding characteristics and can be used in engine assembly.
