Welcome to the site, the 15x7's will be fine. The wider you go the more careful you need to be to prevent tire rubbing issues.

As I said in your newbie post the 15x7 will work fine. You need to be careful as you go to the wider selections to prevent issues.

Yes the 15x4.75 is correct, there is not much back space deviation in 7" wide wheels. It starts to be problematic when you get to the 8"+ widths.

If you want to avoid any clearance issues, keep the back spacing at 4.0/4.25... This is standard for 15x7 SSIII wheels... OEM=4.0... Reproduction=4.25...

You sure about that? Offset should be close to zero on the original wheels. That means backspace on the stock 7" wide wheels would be between 3.75 and 4.0, allowing 1/4" to 1/2" for the inboard wheel lip. Larger backspace will push the tires closer to the pinchweld on the wheel opening, potentially causing rubbing.

Now you have me second guessing myself... IIRC those numbers came from when I measured an 84 Hurst SSIII and a Reproduction SSIII... Measurement was taken from the rear face down to the seating surface... I'll have to remeasure when I get a chance... Too damn cold out to do it right now

Thanks Joe, I rechecked my wheels... I had the reproduction number correct... However, the OEM wheel is 4.0 as you stated... Just another senior moment on my part... I'll have to start writing info down as I accumulate it and not rely on my memory as much...

Bryan, What type of rims are you planning on putting on your 86 ? I had an 86 Cutlass Supreme going back many years and had cragar SS rims all around , 15x8 225-60-15 and 14x7 on the front running 215 70 14 . I forget the offset but the rear were deep dish with no rubbing the front were regular no offset. I have many pictures of the car but didn't have a computer back then to load them up haha.
Post some pics of your car when you get a chance, we all love pics.
Eric
