Ed Skaff

Folks, we lost Ed last Wed morning. 67442nut on here, out of Charleston WV. I had known Ed some 11 years, meeting him when I was posted there for work.

I travelled to Charleston last weekend and bought some powertrain parts from him, but I could not see my friend again as he was not yet out of the hospital like he had planned, and I dealt in person with his son and a friend while consulting Ed over the phone.

Ed had pancreatic cancer for years, and although he never mentioned it, I mention it now because pancreatic cancer kills fast, but Ed had other plans, and fought that thing for 9 years, dumbfounding oncologists.

His daughter let me know in an email today.

Thanks for thinking of him.

Wow, so sad, Ed really was a 67 nut. He was restoring/restored a beautiful 442 convertible. He had been a member here for a very long time and helped people with his knowledge and parts. RIP Ed

Ed sounds like a real fighter to outlast that type of cancer for all these years. It appears he was able to enjoy his Olds hobby to the end. I will keep Ed and his family in my prayers today.

I met Ed at a truck stop years ago when i was doing my 442. We exchanged parts and he was a real straight shooter, all around nice guy. I still remember the pan handler who approached us there with his sob story, looking for a handout. I at first did not know what to think, was this guy legit or not!? Before long Ed sent him packing and said to the guy, Oh no not that story again, heard many times before, just go away. May he rest in peace...
