Your 442 is looking great,Greg!!!I'm glad you mentioned about Legendarys covers being better than PUIs. My '68 still has the original seat covers & door panels & they're still in remarkable shape for a 113k!,but there are some tiny cracks at the front of the drivers cushion that will need attention in the near future. I've seen lots of PUI covers on cars at various shows & they're way to "flat' between the pleats, they look terrible!!!!!

Today I got the wire harness connected,Got the seats out.The frames look like new,Installed the new covers on the rear seat. Now I remember just how much I dislike doing seat covers. They came out nice. The Legendary covers are much heavier material than PUI or even the stock covers. Tomorrow I do the front.I know the front is going to be a pain. The floors inside also look new.

That car is such a great starting point for a restoration, as you mentioned the floors look new from the top and the bottom:-)

The best thing you can do when your looking for a car to restore is payup and buy the best most original and complete example you can find. In the long run you will have less money in it and will have a much better car when your finished.

If you buy a rusty piece of crap and have to put trunk pans, floors, rockers in it all you will have when your done is a patched up rusty car. Dont get me wrong I can do anything on one of these cars to the point where its undetectable, but,I would rather have a car that has all or most of its original panels, with minimal replaced sheetmetal.

Those seats look great!! There is a huge price difference between Legendary & PUI. Always wondered if the legendarys were worth the extra $$$ Now I see that they are,as they say, you get what you pay for!! Love the color combo on the car. That's got to be a pretty rare combo.

The car as a whole is pretty rare. 1445 automatic 442 post coupes this car has ac,disk brks, was cloth seats, power seat,B90 trim, amoung other options. The seat covers are much heavier material than the PUIs even more than the original.

Ordered carpet today Direct from the manufacturer,no one had the dark gold carpet. Tomorrow I will get my package tray and interior paint. Everything about this gold interior has been difficult but its coming together. Had to rebuild the carb as it had not been run in about 10 yrs, runs fantastic. Should have more pics by tomorrow or Thursday.

Amazing work. I have been following along and I have known of greg's work for sometime but to actually see it in progress is a treat. As a body man in my mid 20's i truly am envious in a good way . The longer i am in the trade the more i become obsessed with detail and this thread is all about detail. Great thread.

Thank you very much for the compliments.

Yesterday I started assembly on the arm rest bases and dash. all the gauges,***** and lower dash are completely original parts and paint, just cleaned and detailed. The radio bezel is uncut and beutiful even though the last owner installed an Am/Fm radio. The original am radio will be put back in. This car was never smoked in from day one! The ***** are like NOS as is the wood gain. The lower plastic still has all the original chrome around the perimeter as do all the gauge bezels and are flawless. The dash pad was cracked so I had to change it. The dash pad is an original gold pad that I had kept and was going to use it in my 69 4sp.Also repainted the Steering column, but Didnt get pics yet, will get them today. I just love working on survivor type cars like this. Carpet was original but being Gold it had some staining and was a bit faded,if it would have been black I could have saved it.

Had a very productive day.Got the dash installed in the car,I was going to leave the oil change card holder off but its from the original dealer so I decided to keep it. Also the original key chain from the dealer. Intalled the new windshield,The dash area at the windshield is original just cleaned up. Built the rear bumper,I used the bumpers that I had plated for the 4sp car,I will just replate the bumpers from this car for the 4sp car. The backup lights and license light are the originals.also dyed the 1/4 windlace. And the pics of the steering column painted. Got an email from the carpet manufacturer that the carpet shipped today, should have it Monday. Its starting to look like a car not just a buch of pieces finaly.

Im ready for the carpet which is suppose to be delivered on Monday. Taking the day off to spend with the family, first real day off Ive had since the middle of January. Hope everyone has a nice Easter.
