Ok, here we go, My olds has been in the family since 1983. When I picked it up from my brother in law, the motor was gone. (blown up) it had a four speed in it and a 3.90 something gear with posi.

Now please don't get mad, All I had was my 67 Camaro that was in pieces so I used the 327 from it. Now I was up and going, drove the car that way for about seven years when the rear end started popping when I went around a corner. So I looked for parts, but found nothing, so I pulled it and put a ten bolt from a chevelle in it. (I did keep the rear, it is in my shop)

Now I was wanting more cubes, so I stuck my 427 big block in it. Then got married so it was parked on our Ranch, behind the shop.

Present time: She looks rough, I need to drive her and I am going to start the rebuild. Sorry if I upset any one, but I will be putting it back the way I had her. (nostalgic reasons)

Thanks, I took your advice on the rear quarters and got some old scrap from the junk yard for the repairs, I left all the metal that is there so I can form the new ones.

Thank you, it is and the panels are very straight mostly just remove old paint and prime.

Looks really solid, it's always nice to know the history of a car through personal experience. I love the 64-67 cars, look forward to watching it progress.


On a side note, it looks like the family will enjoy the resto process as well.

I see your moving along quickly ! That fender looks very straight for the most part . Hey what grit sand paper are you using to pull the paint and how many layers if paint are on it looks like two ? Or was the white orig

The white looks to original. I am using 80 grit and it is like cutting through iron with a knife. My buddy that has been giving advice (works in a body shop) said the old original paint is a lacquer and very tuff to get off.

This is what I did I used 40 grit just to the point where the black starts to bleed in to the metal then use 120 to clean everything up


The laqur paint globs up the 80 and 120 grits

That is what my friend just told me to do, he said knock it down with 40 and clean up with 120 and that should move a long faster.

I have a customers truck to work on today but maybe later I can get back to it. Got to make that money to pay the bills.

Yes, it took me oh about two hrs a fender this way, also 3m makes this pad thing. I call it a mushroom but you can attach it to a air grinder / drill and it works great for th inside and edge clean up I will take a pic so you know what it looks like

Got some more done tonight. Fender is in etching primer and drying, so I moved on to the trunk lid.

After some needed time off with the wife, I got back to work. Fender now has build up primer on it and is ready for blocking.
