finish my car? This has been a 9 year restoration but I hope to finish in time for the 14 Olds Nats. It's an original 66 3X2 442 Sport Coupe,1 of 383 built. It was sold new @ Steel City Olds here in Birmingham.
It is a matching #'s car. I have all of the documentation, window sticker & dealer copy of the window sticker, warranty book with POP & envelope, original bill of sale, finance papers, the window sticker from the 65 442 traded in on this car,the original Steel City envelope the paper work came in. When they removed the window sticker, they tore some of it off and for some reason unknown, they made the owner a copy of the dealers copy of the window sticker and stamped it with the POP.
It was originally Ocean Mist/Black Bench seat. It still has the original M-20 wide ratio Muncie & 'SF' code 3.23 posi rear axle. It was a bare bones car with only a radio & dash sidemount tach for options. I added A/C,P/S,Tilt Wheel,4 wheel power disc brakes, factory shoulder harness's and I had the radio converted to AM/FM Stereo but still looks original. I'm using 14 X 7 repo SSI's & BF Goodrich redline radials. I kept the bench seat because I love it.
My period correct Steel City tag frame
The plate registered to my car
This is a 66 I did and my car should have the same stance because I used the same spring package on both.

Why did I think it was convertible? I swear you told me it had a white top? Anyway, looks super!!! Love the look of that gold one as well. If anyone would know how to do one right it would be you. You've been instrumental in helping with my knowledge of 66's. make sure to bring it to WI in '15.

Thanks for all of the kind and not so kind words about the car or me. It's the last one I'm doing and a keeper. I built it like I wanted and didn't worry about if it was 100% correct or not. Some will say the color change, disc brakes and the options I added that are not on the window sticker hurts it. I don't really care one way or the other about what it's worth, doesn't matter. I have a 8 year old granddaughter that I absolutely adore and if nothing changes,it will be hers one day to do with as she sees fit. It will be a driver after it goes to the Olds Nats. Again, thanks for the nice comments,it means a lot coming from my peers.

I absolutely love your attitude about YOUR car... You bought it, you toiled over it and you spent the money on it. It's yours, so make it what you want it to be and when it's all done and the Nats are over, drive her like you stole her and enjoy all that you've done and all you've accomplished Mike

My plan is to have it ready for the World Of Wheels here in B'ham in early Feb. so it will keep me motivated. If that doesn't happen,it will be ready for the BOP show in Atlanta in early May,then onto Milwaukee for the Nats. This is if my health stays good which it is now,so it shouldn't be a problem. See you there.
