Body is self explanatory...I will be sending it to my local body man who is on board for the project.

the car will be painted the original willow gold and the original provincial white stripe and driven!.
Ted
The car did not come with the W36 stripe.
Came with the original pinstripe, that followed the moulding across the top of fenders, and since the car came with no vinyl, it followed the curve of glass around C pillar, under the peak moulding.this is what will be put back on.

If you are going with the W36 stripe, it appears your car did not originally have that option. The 442 numbers were located a bit further aft and lower with the W36 stripe than where your 442 numbers are located on your fenders. With the body work that's being done, it might be a good time to relocate your 442 numbers so they are in the factory-designated position for the W36 stripe.

The ring gear has 14-43...so it has 3.07 gears(US built cars apparently had 3.08 gears)
No posi or lockup

So since the car had the standard pinstripe, are the 442 numbers in the correct place?.....I would assume they are...any precise measurements out there?
Good idea to get the placement of the trim correct while doing body!

Hi Ted,
For the standard pinstripe fore and aft on each side, your numbers are in the correct place. I thought maybe you were talking about the W36 option (wide vertical stripe on each fender), in which case the the 442 numbers are located further aft and down a bit (see my picture to the left). If you are talking about the horizontal pin stripe, though, I stand corrected - your numbers are where they should be!

Actually both myself and Dan Macal have Canadian built '68s that were originaly W-36 stripe cars and both have the 4-4-2 numbers in the typical non stripe location. Both cars have a three digit paint code as well. We believe the Canadian built stripe cars were different. Mine happens to be willow gold with black vinyl roof and black w-36 stripe.

lines...
My goal is to get this car moving and stopping.....then off to the body shop.I can do most of the mechanicals, but i want a pro to do the body.
Fuel and brake lines were replaced today. Where the line goes thru the frame, noticed it had a covering on it...was this asbestos? I got it off the
original line and was able to put back around new lines.
Gas tank will remain out of car until body work is done
Right front caliper i removed tonight and will be cleaned up. It is as big as the ones on my 1989 F350 7.3 Diesel that carries around 10,000 pounds!
Waiting on brake parts
More to come..
Thanks,
Ted

a start.....
Have to admit, lost patience waiting for brake rebuild kit, so off to the local body shop it went....
trying to save as much of the original body metal that we can...
blasted the back to see what we have(or do not have)
frame looks pretty solid
all panels have arrived
It is a resto on a budget, so the frame off option was denied. The main thing is the car will be saved and a nice driver
More to come!
Thanks,
Ted

Where in the world is Marble Falls TX?
Ha ha, we are on the lower Colorado River.
The fourth lake of the chain of the Highland Lakes.
Buchanan, Inks, LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, Travis,
then, what used to be Town Lake in Austin and
was changed a year or so ago to Ladybird Lake,
After Lyndon's wife, Claudia.
Three blocks to the boat ramp, sweet.
You cannot see the Falls now as the were covered
up back in the 40's. Only when they let the lake
down for folks to repair boat lifts and such.
That little boy is my oldest son, the pic
was taken in '83. He goes about 230 lbs. today.

Ted,
The 68's are the best (I'm biased). Looks like you are going to do a great job. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
I enjoyed your opening statement when you said you would send it to your local bodyman. I'm still hoping to find a bodyman, engineman, interior guy, plumber, electrician, carpenter, etc. LOL. Unfortunately for me, I always see him in the mirror.
