Anyone take a motor out of a gmc motorhome?

I have come across a decent deal on a super low mile 455 that should be a good start for a build. The price is pretty good because the buyer pulls the motor from a motorhome. Without knowing anything about them other than the fact that it is a toro drivetrain my first guess is that you drop a subframe but I believe I recall a picture of someone with a hoist sticking inside the cab of one.... Has anyone ever tackled this before? It is a bit of a drive and I don't want to get therr and get the thing torn apart to find i dont have the necessary tools.

I've only looked at a couple for repair, but I believe it's a full frame, and comes out the top!
Bring a sawzall and a firesaw, and drop it out the bottom - could be done!!

Well I think top may be better. I'm not sure what kind of atmosphere well be looking at so if it can be reached with a hoist through the door that would be ideal but that'd leaving a lot up to chance.... Do you think that would be possible?

GMC Motorhome

The current month issue of Popular Mechanics has an article about guys who specialize in niche vehicles. It talked about DeLoreans, Deusenburgs, and...GMC Motorhomes. Find that magazine at the local grocery store and get the dude's name. He would be able to tell you everything you need to know. It is somewhere on the West coast.

I'd give you the info myself but apparently my better half tossed the magazine already.

The newspaper truck uses a p 42 chassis...same as a motor home.
Not very hard if you own torches.
The truck I worked on had a removable plate at the firewall which made engine removal easy.
Wouldn't take much to make a hole to attach an engine crane.
You could unbolt the front end,but torches are faster.

No. That's a RWD platform.
