Sharp. What happened to the 68/9 rear marker lights?

Great job! You should re-post the original link you had with the whole build start to finish, and put it in the Major Builds section! I'm sure a lot of people missed the complete story on this beast!

The Camino Supreme
Thanks a lot. Yes Bluevista, I did build it in my garage. I had the El Camino in the garage and gutted the Cutlass on my driveway last winter. The bodywork and paint were done in a shop in Toronto.
Sorry csstrux, I wasn't able to work the '69 marker lights into the design, you need to be able to get to the back of them and this isn't possible on the El Camino 1/4 panel. I'm thinking I'll use them when my buddy and I build a custome sub enclosure behind the front seats. Thanks again, glad you guys like it and no die hard Olds purists are hating on me for cutting up a Cutlass. (Yet!) http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2997898 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3308387 Here are two links for you guys, the first is to the original page (The making of) and the second is to a brand new page I've created with lots of other pictures. Enjoy! |

Wow! Only a sick mind could think of doing something like, and only a sicker mind could implement it, and only the sickest of all minds could do as well as you have. Congratulations, very nice.

I dont have permission to view the pics it says but I will say this. Anyone who can customize any car is A1 ok in my book. Who cares what year the car is or what body type it is. It's about having respect for the owner and thier hard work. Appriciating thier talent and engineering skills. Also I saw a G body El camino here that was customized with a F body Z28 front clip and ground effects package, along with a mid 80s Vette back bumper. Wish I had pics, this guy did a very professional customizing job and it looks very BOSS! |

You did a great job man. How much hours do you have in the bodywork? Are you going to be stuffing a 455 into that
? The only other Cutlass I seen like this was a 64 and its in a Junkyard .

Very nice work,
I've often toyed with making one out of a Vista. Got any suggestions?

Thanks again to everyone, cool picture of the junkyard Cutlass, it's a shame it ended up there!
How many hours into the bodywork is a good question, I'm not sure. I got a deal on the price, but my buddy and his father worked on it from August until this JKanuary. I helped out with stripping the trim and some of the re-assembly but otherwise it was all them. Myself I've got 200 or more hours into it. Worth it though, I just had the apraiser at my house this morning and I think he was impressed at how much trouble I went to. He put the value at $12,500 which is more than it cost to build so I can't complain. I'd love to someday put in a 455 or even a nicely done 350, but for now no $$$ forces me to leave it as is but that's cool because the 305 runs OK and it should suit my purposes of driving to work the odd time and car shows on the weekend just fine. I'm really glad I've gotton such a positive reaction from everyone, Thnaks a lot! |
