Smile chasis swap

Hello everyone can someone help answer this

any idea what older car front disc brake will fit my 41 Olds front end. Someone before me removed the original Olds front control arm & spindle and hooked up Malibu or Chevelle front control arms and spindles that is drum brakes i think.

Thank you guys on your insight I appreciate.
Have a blessed day.
Rodney

I'm not sure, but I think you will find that the later model frames are much wides than the 41 and that you will have to fabricate and weld mounts on the later frame. I ran into that problem when I was installing a Vistacruiser frame under my 55 S88. Good luck with your build.

First, wheelbase alone is not the only dimension that matters. Obviously, width, track, and location of the frame rails matters. Also, location of the engine in the frame matters for firewall clearance. Can such a swap be done? Sure, others have done this. Just DO NOT kid yourself that this will be easy or inexpensive. The newer car uses a perimeter frame that kicks out behind the front wheels and runs under the rockers. That will likely be far too wide for your 41 and will require considerable fabrication and metal work to fit. What are the front and rear track widths for the two vehicles? I suspect the newer car has the wheels much further apart than on the 41. This pushes your tires out relative to the fenders and not only looks like crap but causes clearance issues. You'll have to completely fabricate front frame horns, body mounts, and likely a new floor pan. And do you REALLY think a 3" wheelbase difference won't matter?

Pictures would help. If the car has a front clip already, why mess with that?

Good point Sir

decided going to stay with the 41 Oldsmobile frame because i discovered there was a Chevelle front end with disc brakes.

Pulling the body off chassis in a few days ..... It's work in progress
