ours lost power a while back. i cut the converter off and replaced it with straight pipe, it still runs good.

Have you changed the fuel filter?

did you check fuel pressure after installing the new pump? fuel pressure regulator can bypass fuel back to the tank causing low pressure.if it has a MAF"mass air flow sensor" I have had these go bad wihout causing engine light or codes. a piece of dirt or dust can cause these to read incorrectly, they are very delicate.
