RE: Repair Manual!

OK my mistake, my last post on the 2002 Intrigue is wrong because, well, it is a 2000 Intrigue. The likely reason I can not find a repair manual. My guess Intrigue were not on the market after that 2000? Also it is not "Check Engine" but "Service Engine Soon" light, which I still have a problem with. So with that can anyone give me direction for my situation?

Thanks.

you could try 4 a manual on ebay, your check engine or service engine soon is probably because of emissions which could be caused by many things, but most commonly bad gas or egr valve. it is probably best to do a bit of research on your car and common robablems whith that model (all the light is telling you is that your emissions went to hell) It is much easier to diagnose with the proper manual for your car.

Let me know if you have any luck

Thanks keith6989, I will let you know. I did go with a higher grade gas and will see what happens. I will look into the EGR situation. My dilemma is it is due for emissions tests and I'm avoiding having to take it to be serviced, only because the high cost of diagnostic testing to a hopefully simple repair.

I will keep you posted.

ps...I found a repair manual

I had bought a scan tool to help me with my problem and my result (DTC) is code P0410 (Secondary Air Injection Malfunction) Now where do I go from there?

My first solution was replacing the PCV. From there I plan on going to next least expensive solution. If there something that is likely the problem so I can jump to that.

Thanks.

I will ask around and look at my manuals at home (I will be back there on Saturday afternoon) and see what I can do for you.

Good luck and let me know if you get anywhere in the meantime.

There is a guy with the same problem here http://www.automotiveforums.com/t286932.html
Some people recommended remedies and things you can check out.

Thanks Kieth6989,
I checked out the link and from what I have read it may be a sensor of some sort and\or maybe spark plugs. I'm not sure what sensor it is and from what I have as a schematic in my manual there is no senor involved in the secondary air injection system.

Thanks again and I will keep you posted. If you have more news please relay them and i will do the same.

I still have the problem with the light coming back on after I erase the codes...and the same codes keep coming up. I did get my car to pas emissions last week by erasing the code to clear the light but it had taken a lot more drive cycles before it came back on. So far I have replaced the PCV Valve, Gas Cap. My next step to replace the plugs. which I had learned from the link you sent me. Can anyone explain what a pending code is? the DTCs are P410 and P410 PD.

I will still continue to solve the situation.

I found this on a google.
The secondary air injection pump pumps air into the exhaust to help heat the catalytic converter at cold start. This lowers the emissions at an otherwise high emission time.
A malfunction means that computer has registered either a pump failure (common on some models), fuse blown, or improper catalytic converter function.
http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h65.pdf has a diagram of this part, how it works etc.

It may shed some light on thee subject, let me know how it goes.
