Heads UP! - A much needed headrest part gets repro'd

Anyone that's dealt with many original bucket seat headrests knows the plastic underside filler panel is usually dried-out, chalky or otherwise in real sad shape. Black versions seem to survive the best but any other color and they're usually toast.

A Buick nut sent me a link to a new/repro version that's now being offered by MotorCityMusclecar/Inline Tube (link is below). I talked with Inline Tube to clarify the pricing and it's $25 + shipping for A PAIR (if you read further down in their description there is some conflicting language mentioning something like "this is enough to do one bucket seat").

If you need another color just get these and paint them to match after scrubbing them thoroughly and using an adhesion promoter.

A Buick nut, huh? Patton, I knew about those already. Do you know anybody who makes a 70-72 headrest lock that actually fits right, or close to right? One that the chrome bezel is deep enough to touch the seat?

Nice - I've replaced many headrests due to those being trashed.

Thanks for the post Patton. It's past time someone repoped these.
I saw they had 7 inquiries but didn't post any questions or replies.
$25 a set is a good deal but the ad reads only one for the 25...

The title of the ad says 'pair'.

At the bottom of the ad it says " this is enough to do one bucket seat."
I sent them a message, will report back.

Take apart originals and have the outer shells redone. I've run into the same thing and haven't done any comparisons b/n the offerings from various vendors. The lock assemblies sold by OPGI do look enticing with theirs being listed as having real chrome plating on the plastic shells instead of the vacuum metallized stuff on other repros and originals. However, my bet is they fit the same as the other repros which is the issue you mention.

I've been called and known to hang around a few Buick nuts as well...I think there may be one of those in my garage right now.
