72 Cutlass dash/radio fix?
My 72 Cutlass came with an ugly aftermarket DIN type radio, and would like to replace it with a modern old-style unit (like Custom AutoSound or similar). The problem of course is that they cut the dash to install the current unit...there is a single large rectangular hole instead of the smaller center rectangle with a circular hole on each side. Is there some sort of insert/bracket available that can be installed so that the older shaft-syle radio can be installed? I figured if I replaced the woodgrain trim insert once it's all done it would cover it all up and still look decent.

Maybe?
Use one of these and then your woodgrain trim?

I suppose another DIN style could work, but one of the issues with the current one is that it sticks out of the dash quite a ways and has a big black trim/adaptor piece that just makes it look like crap. If it could be more flush and "clean" then I might be able to accept it. But ideally I'd like to go back to a more stock appearance. At some point I'll pull the current one out and see what I have to work with. If I can get a suitable piece of metal I might be able to fab something up myself to allow the older style radio to be installed. But if something was already available that would be a lot easier.
