Proper Storage Of Shoulder Belts 72 Cutlass Convertible

Hi All,
I have a 72 442 convertible with the shoulder belt option. My question is; I know the buckle end snaps onto the armrest just below the courtesy lights but how do you roll up the slack of the belt properly ?? It hard to believe the belt just lays across the arm rest, if anyone has pictures of how to store the shoulder belts when not in use properly I would greatly appreciate -Thank you in advance!

Karl

I have them in my 70 Bonneville convertible, and I have always laid and folded them across the arm rest. Since I always use them when I drive the car, it is not a problem of blowing around in the wind. I did buy a pair of the retractors that kind of wind up in the belt, but have never installed them.

Are theses deluxe belts? There was an optional set of belt retainers that attached to the front of the rear sear, allowing the belts to be clipped tight in place. I have a set but don't know how it works for the shoulder belts.

Hi Allan,

There is a plastic buckle mounted to the front of the arm rest just below the courtesy lights were the bucket attaches to but the slack of the belt is what just lays across the are rest.

Gotcha. Something like this may fit your needs. From what I can deduce, the clip attaches to the main belt, and slack can also be laid over top to keep it in place? Sort of like a tie clip

I think you can get them at most auto part stores. That one is made by Dorman. It's listed as 74325 Seatbelt Clip Retainer. Hope it will work for you. From what I see on the web they're only about 3.50 each.
