GM Seat Interchange

Does anyone know what other GM buckets would be correct for a 64 Cutlass? I am planning on having them recovered so stitching, grain pattern and color are not important. I have located a pair of bucket seats that are said to be out of a 1962 Corvair. Are these the same size?

Post From the 34th Hollander

Hollander says that both buckets, without the tracks, are 23-3/4 x 22-1/2. The driver and passenger sides will interchange with each other, and the Olds 1964 & 1965 are the same for the "A" body. It says that the bench seats for the 2 door or the 4 door "A" bodies will interchange with the Buick "A" bodies, but the buckets interchange only with the 1964 & 1965 Olds "A" bodies.

If originality isn't a concern I don't see how you would be limited in your seat selection.

I will recover them with the proper seat covers for the 64 model year. When I picked up my "trailer queen" it was missing a lot of stuff including the bucket seats & console. My 65 parts car has a bench seat so I am looking for the correct buckets. The photos of the Corvair buckets that I'm looking at seem to be the same basic size & shape with the chrome side pieces but I haven't made the road trip to check them out in person yet.

If you don't mind doing some fabrications and cobbling, you probably can get most of them to go in. When you used the word "correct" it made me think that an exact interchange was desired. Best wishes on the project.
