Kick Panel Removal '71 Cutlass

Kick panel removal on a '71 cutlass S hardtop. Can someone tell me how this is done? I see no screws to undo anywhere except one holding the vent cable in place.

It is not listed under "K" in my Fisher Body service manual, are they called something else in that book? As always, help is appreciated.

On mine, I just pull off the sill plate, then pull it forward and out. It might have had a screw in it originally.. don't know. Mine aren't connected to anything anymore

Held in place by the chrome door bottom trim kick panel thingy, the A-pillar cover over it, and the two/three screws behind the vent grate, which pops out with a slight amount of force.

Like Seff said, you must first remove the grill/grate. It has 4 or 5 tabs that hold it in, use a small flat screwdriver around the edge of it & you'll find the tabs. Once that is removed there are about 6 5/16" screws that hold it in. Once you get those out, there will probably be some thick whitish sticky adhesive that holds it to the body. You'll need to gently pull back & forth & in & out but it will come out. Just be careful not to break the slim vertical piece running up towards the roof. There also will be one screw holding one of the vent cables onto the cowl & the other cable just turns off the pivot for the dash vent.

Thank you, Oldspackrat, I'd forgotten the amount of screws.

In my experience, the think white stuff is water proofing around the vent (ask me how I found out...)

I removed it, and subsequently my kick panels started leaking.
