Delta 88 - 1966 - Cowl Tag - Color codes

Hi,

I am the happy owner of a Delta 88 from 66 and would like to replace the carpet, but cannot seem to get the color code translated.

From my cowl tag I already know that
66 = 1966
3 = Oldsmobile
58 = Delta 88 V8 (1965-1967)
67 = 2d convertible
C2 = Provincial White

But I cannot seem to find out what color trim 918 is and what 05A is.
From searching the net I could believe it would be burnt orange (21), but would like to be sure before ordering and having it sent to Denmark.

Hope someone can help on this one

Best regards
Jakob

05A is the time build code from when Linden (Fisher Body Works) started building your car from sheet metal parts. It breaks down to the first week (A) of May (05) 1966.

Trim Code 918 is Medium Bronze

Jakob,
May I suggest you also invest in a 1966 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual? (Also known as CSM) This is a valuable source of info for your car. There is also an Assembly Manual for the B/C (your body style) cars available. These sources also include the paint codes from the paint manufacturers for the colors on your car.

Chris - how did you determine Bronze Vinyl trim? I can't find that reference in the Assembly manual? Just code 918 and the color. I looked at the pics of the 66 Delta Dealer brochure and they say the trim is a combination of Morocceen Vinyl with cloth inserts for the seating area. Probably the same thing as your reference?

I might be reading this incorrectly but it says "First digit denotes material - 1-All Vinyl."

To my knowledge bronze interior was available only in vinyl, and recommended only with Autumn Bronze, Provincial While, and Ebony Black paint. It would probably have worked pretty well with Sierra Mist, Almond Beige, Target Red and Burgundy Mist.

Thanks for all the replies, but still seems a bit confusing on what color the carpet. Searching for bronze does not come up with any match for Delta 88 1966

Allan : I already have that one and "1966 BODY BY FISHER SERVICE MANUAL", but they do not mention that color code. Have them as hard copy and pdf.

Nope, I read it the same way, after I looked it up in the 66 SPECS. Good catch and thank you for the info.

Looking in SPECS and other docs, I don't see anything specified for carpet color. I suppose the question is; do you have carpet in there now?

chrisneu68olds yes I do have a carpet in the car. And it matches the color of the seats. From the wear of it I would assume it being the original.

Best Regards
Jakob
