seat **** ?

So I bought a set of new seat tracks for my 70 442 and the ***** were black, so I wanted to switch them to chrome. I couldn't get the black ***** off so I cut them Now the chrome ones I bought won't slide back over. Does anyone have a picture of a track without the know so I can see the contour of it. Also - did the original chrome ones come with an allen head for tightening them on? Any help would be greatly appreciated

The original ***** pressed off & on. There is a picture in the assembly manual somewhere that shows how it's done. There is a little hole below the **** & you put a small phillips screw driver in there & then wedge a socket? or something else about the size of the space between the screwdriver & the **** & then lift up on the screw driver, pushing the **** off. I think you could something similar but backwards with a small c clamp to push it back on?? I'm sure there is another way, but that will work.

Thanks Oldspackrat - I'm not sure if it is the angle of the seat track or the chrome know I bought. I found some similar for a chevelle that have an allen head for tightening and loosening - I might give those a shot
