rear seat compatabilty cutlass

Hey guys, I was wondering first of all, do rear seats from 69-72 chevelles fit in a 1969 Cutlass, and, do 1966-1968 rear chevelle seats also fit in 69-72 chevelles (and consiquently, cutlass's)? I understand if some of the latching and things are different, but as far as the actual dimensions of the seats. Because I found a thread on a chevelle forum where the guy actually put a Mercedes E320 rear seat in his 66 chevelle and it fit like a glove, and I'd like to do it to my 69 cutlass

Don't hold me to it, but i would venture to say that all A bodies (cutlass, tempest, skylark and chevelle) would either interchange or be VERY close.

As far as the E320 rear seat, I guess it just depends on the year.

Although honestly, I don't much care for any of the 320 seats.

Just my .02 .

There are at least three different A body rear seat widths from 68-72. 507olds knows. Do a search & I think someone (maybe Brian, 507olds) listed the widths.

Gotcha, yeah I'm looking into other possibilities, as much as I want it to be unique, if its been done and I know the 320 seat fits in a A body and only one other person has done it, thats good enough for me. I want 90s F body rear seats cause their pretty much two buckets with a bit of foam in between

I'll definitely check that out, thanks

I noticed that too about the rear "bucket" looking seats in the Mercedes.

They remind me alot of my 64 Riviera rear seats.

Who knows, that may be another possibility for you as well and at least they are GM.

And the standard Cutlass/442/F-85 seat is wider still than the two referenced above (which is what you should have)

I'm fairly sure 68 is the same as 69. Bottom line is you have your existing seat. Measure it and make sure they are the same (chevelle, mercedes, or whatever). You can always make the attachment points work

Well, I have whats left of a seat but its all kinds of rusted and warped and collapsed but I could probably get a baseline off of it. The only thing that worries me now is that the rear wheel well "humps" go about 3 inches forward and 3 inches sideways into the seat back which odds are, are different than most newer car seats. I'm definitely swapping the front bench for buckets out of whatever newer car I can get my hands on but I may end up getting a stock rear bench if I can get one cheap enough. This is all in the future of course, when I have the cash to drop. Damn, I need to get my kit car sold
