Speedometer cable needed (driven from driver side hub)
Hi guys. I have a bit of a dilemma on my hands...
When I dropped my engine back in, I accidentally kinked the speedometer cable jacket in a few places. Despite replacing the internal cable and properly cleaning and lubricating the plastic/metal jacket a few times, it continues to behave erratically / break cables because of the kinks in the jacket.
My problem is I don't know where to look for a new cable jacket because
the 65 big cars' speedometers were driven off of the grease cap on the driver side wheel hub....
the cable needs to be much longer than the typical ones. All the ones I have found are for 65 Delta 88's with cruise control (which mine does not have).
Does anyone know of a source for this part?
Thanks for your time,
-Andres H.

Have you tried contacting speedometersolutions.com? or cable manufactures listed in Hemmings? A place I worked at years ago had a kit with various ends and rolls of outer and inner cable that cut to fit and could install the correct ends.
Please let me know how you make out and the service you find, I will eventually need one for my 65 98.
Thanks

Have you tried "Canuckcars Vintage Car Parts, Barrie, Ontario, Canada"? They used to have an Ebay store and handled that speedo cable. I haven't checked with them in quite a long time. Worth a shot!

I got lucky and was just able to find the cable I was looking for on Ebay after two years almost of searching for 66 bucks. Thanks to 2Blu442 for giving me the info on the ad that eventually led me to find one such cable for sale. This part is really hard to find. Here is what we found out:
Cable is valid for:
1963-1964 Oldsmobile 88 and 98, all 1965-1966 Oldsmobile 88 and 98 except Jetstar and all 1967-1968 Oldsmobile 88 and 98 WITHOUT cruise control.
AC Delco Part number: CC-275 / 6454859
"Pitt" Part number: C2-726
Cable length: 65 and 1/4 inches
Hope this info helps someone else with their cable!
