1973 Cutlass S Color choices.

I recently decided it was time to do my interior over. I have become confused as to the color of my seats. I have my window sticker and i was wondering if there is a code that would tell me the color code to my seats and such. Its a mayan gold exterior and the interior is brown but obviously the color choices are as easy as that. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

It might be worth posting the codes on the body cowl tag under the hood. Better yet, take a good, clear picture of it and post the photo. Those codes usually gave the exact colors on the car.

I have a '73 Olds myself, and I, too, have the original window sticker. My sticker has no mention of the interior colors or fabrics. As I say, I think you need the body cowl tag info for this.

I also have the 1973 Olds dealer album showing available interiors of all 1973 models. I have all the codes as well as swatches of the fabrics. Again, if you post the codes on the body cowl tag, we might be able to help you determine exactly what interior you had and what Oldsmobile actually called it.

According to my album, the interior colors most close to brown for the '73 Cutlass S were "saddle," which was trim code 19 if you have a bench front seat or trim code 39 if you have a swivel bucket front seat, or "beige," which was trim code 46 for the bench seat and wasn't available for the swivel seat version. For the saddle color, the fabric was called "morocceen," which was like vinyl and was common on Oldsmobiles through much of that era. I had a '64 Jetstar 88 at one time, and its seat fabric was also called morocceen. For the beige interior, the fabric was called "lagoon cloth," and it had a rougher texture.

If you have the bucket seats, and they're brown, then you most certainly have the saddle interior. That was the only color available for the bucket seat Cutlass S that comes anywhere close to brown. The other colors available, and their trim numbers, were black (30), green (32), cranberry red (35), and white (37). I think if you had any of these and not brown, you would know it.

By the way, the album gives the code number AN7 for the swivel bucket front seat. That code might appear on your cowl trim tag.

Well I have the original parts group cataloge and I originally thought it was buckskin because the saddle says it was for the 74 & 76 and it looks orange in the picture.

I'm not sure the parts group catalog would be as accurate as the actual Oldsmobile dealer book for that specific model year. There was no "buckskin" color, at least by that name, for the Cutlass S that year. My '73 is a wagon, and it has the same "saddle" interior that your car apparently has.
